Meet Our Pastors

David Canedy, Senior Pastor

Pastor Dave Canedy grew up in the state of New York and is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He received a B.S. in Accounting in 1979 and an M.A. in Pastoral Studies in 1982.

Pastor’s wife Nancy also grew up in New York and is a graduate of BJU. Mrs. Canedy taught kindergarten and first grade at South Side Baptist School of Greenville, SC, for three years and kindergarten at Marquette Manor Baptist Academy for 1 year. She then home schooled their children for 11 years. Pastor and Mrs. Canedy have four children: Amy Joy, Jennifer Lynn, Joshua David, and Emily Rose.

The Canedys have been part of the Marquette Manor Baptist Church family since 1982. Pastor Canedy served in the academy as Assistant Principal (1982-84) and in the church as Youth Pastor (1984-89). He was ordained to the gospel ministry at Marquette on June 6, 1984. Some of the Canedy’s greatest joys in the youth ministry include mission trips with the teens, establishing the Centurion Classic, and seeing many from the youth group serving the Lord around the world today.

In 1989, the Canedys yielded to the Lord’s call to the mission field of the Maritimes of Canada. With Marquette as their sending church, they served the Lord as missionaries for 10 years under Baptist World Mission. Pastor Canedy served as missionary pastor of the Stewiacke Valley Baptist Church in Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia (1990–96), and Grace Baptist Church in Moncton, New Brunswick (1996 to 2000).

Pastor Canedy accepted the call as Senior Pastor of Marquette Manor Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 11, 2000, and he was installed as the Senior Pastor on Sunday, December 17, 2000. Along with the pastoral ministry, Pastor Canedy has the joy of representing the church and serving the Lord on the boards of Baptist World Mission, as treasurer; Illinois Association of Christian Schools, as vice-president; Camp Joy; and the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Illinois.

Kent Ramler, Associate Pastor back to top

Kent Ramler grew up in a Christian home and was saved at the age of four. Shortly thereafter, in 1974, his parents moved to Downers Grove and joined Marquette Manor Baptist Church. At the age of eight, Pastor Ramler was baptized and joined the church. He attended Marquette Manor Baptist Academy and graduated from there in 1986. Having surrendered to the call to preach at the age of 14, he attended Bob Jones University and graduated with a B.A. in Bible in 1990. He then taught at Bob Jones Academy and University for the next eleven years while pursuing an M.A. in Bible and a Ph.D. in New Testament Interpretation.

In 2001, Pastor Ramler left Bob Jones University to be the assistant pastor at Marquette under Dave Canedy, his former youth pastor. He now serves as the associate pastor and Academy Administrator. He has been married to Joy since May 5, 1990, and they have four children: Ruth, Jonathan, Rose, and David.

Lloyd Estep, Youth Pastor back to top

Pastor Estep grew up in a Christian home and accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 5. In 2002, he graduated from Baptist College of Ministry with a B.A. in Bible. While in Bible College, he was heavily involved in youth ministry, teaching Sunday School, directing a youth group society, and traveling on youth ministry teams.

Pastor Estep and his wife Bethany came to Marquette Manor Baptist Church in the fall of 2004. During this time he interned as director of the youth ministry, and in the fall of 2005 he officially became the youth pastor. Pastor Estep and Bethany have two children, Joanna and Lloyd Carter.
